Sweaters can be quite the process, but once you get some basics down they are so much fun to make and customize.
This sweater was made for my work holiday party that was "Ugly Sweater/Holiday Sweater" themed. While I did not win, I am happy with the way this holiday sweater turned out.
This blog post shows how to make the Medium/Large size sweater in the video above.
You could make it a bit smaller or larger by going up or down a hook size or two or adjusting the weight of the yarn.
I hope to create this in other sizes over the next year if people express an interest in seeing it in smaller or larger sizes.
Supplies:
Yarn: eight colors of worsted/Standard 4 weight
I used:
¹ I Love This Yarn: Black Metallics – 979 yards
² I Love This Yarn: Lime Light – 300 yards to 365 yards
³ I Love This Yarn: White Metallic- 24 yards
⁴ Caron: Hot Pink - 1 yards
⁵ Red Heart: Black - 33 yards
⁶ Red Heart: White - 43 yards
⁷ Red Heart: Red- 26 yards
⁸ Caron: Sliver Sparkle – 16 yards
Note: 12 yards add to any color you want to do your lettering in
Crochet Hook:
G (4.00 mm) hook
Other Supplies:
Scissors, Tapestry needle, Stitch markers, Measure tape,
Gauge swatch:
With G (4.00mm) hook and worsted (4) weight 100% acrylic yarn
Ch 17, Row 1: in 2nd bb from hook hdc 16, Row 2 – 10: ch 1, turn, hdc 16
Measures: 4” x 4”
Measurements:
Body:
Circumference Bust:41”
Circumference Waist: 34”
Circumference Hip: 43”
Length from shoulder to bottom edge: 34”
Sleeve:
Length neck to wrist: 31”
Length armpit to wrist: 23”
Circumference wrist:10”
Note: Sizes can vary depending on hook size and weight and type of yarn, all measurement taken are when the above gauge is matched using 4 weight acrylic yarn.
Acrylic yarn has a bit more stretch to it, any garment made in cotton will turn out slightly smaller even when gauge is met.
Notes:
-It can be beneficial to look through the entire pattern before starting.
-The pattern is written in standard US terminology and written working right-handed
-joining slst are to be pulled tight so they are not to be confused as a stitch
-All color changes will be worked in sc sts, they will be marked with a letter or two to note the color used for the next st. exp: B-3, W-2, MB-3 would be 3 sc with black, 2 sc with white, 3 sc with metallic black
Body of Sweater: Black Metallic -795 yards LimeLight 99 yards Note: Other colors of the picture are noted in sections, along with each color change the yards are noted so if you want to use different colors it is easier to calculate yardage for the colors you want to use E (4.00mm) Hook Start with Black Metallic (95.5 yards) Row 1: F-hdc 80 (80) Note: placing stitch markers in the last (of the 1st 2sc) and 1st (of the 2nd 2sc) increase sts to mark the corners can help track them.
